Free Pension Counseling Regardless of Age or Income
Our mission is to help individuals understand and exercise their pension rights. We provide services free of charge to workers and retirees or their family members who currently live or work in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Our services are free of charge, regardless of age, income, or the amount of the benefit sought. Our attorneys and paralegals provide services over the telephone and through the mail.
Pension Plans and Laws are Complex
Navigating pensions without knowledgeable assistance is difficult at best — and nearly impossible for some.
WHY ARE PENSION COUNSELING PROJECTS NEEDED?
Corporate and Financial Turmoil
Corporate mergers, bankruptcies, and a volatile stock market mean that more people than ever are in need of basic pension help.
Lack of Accessible Resources
Few resources exist that provide assistance free of charge — regardless of age, income, or the value of the pension.
FUNDERS AND PARTNERS
U.S. Administration on Aging
The Administration on Aging (AOA) is the principal agency of the U.S Department of Health and Human Services designated to carry out the provisions of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA), as amended (42 U.S.C.A. § 3001 et seq.).
The OAA promotes the well-being of older individuals by providing services and programs designed to help them live independently in their homes and communities.
The Act also empowers the federal government to distribute funds to the states for supportive services for individuals over the age of 60.
Texas Access to Justice Foundation
The Texas Access to Justice Foundation is the leading funder of legal aid in Texas. The organization is committed to the vision that all Texans will have equal access to justice, regardless of their income.
The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was created by the Supreme Court of Texas in 1984 to administer the newly implemented Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Program. Since then, Texas Access to Justice Foundation has diversified its funding sources to include public funding and private donations.
